5 Video Marketing Statistics That’ll Blow Your Mind

7th November 2017Content Marketing
video marketing statistics

At The Living Room, we love a good statistic. Well, you’ve probably noticed if you’re a frequent reader of our blog – we do use them pretty regularly! But it’s a sure-fire way to prove that what we’re saying isn’t a load of rubbish; we’re actually speaking the truth.

We talk a lot about video advertising, too, and about why it’s so good. So, we thought it was about time that we combine the two and informed you of video advertising stats that’ll blow your socks off. Enjoy!

1) Predicting the Future

In a detailed trend report carried out by Cisco, it was estimated that by 2020 (so just over two years away) online video will be responsible for over 80% of internet consumer traffic. Eighty percent! That’s a huge number to be working with and one you don’t want to be missing out on.

2) Watch the Years Fly By

Periscope, a popular video streaming app used by a whole lot of businesses and marketers, revealed in 2016 that their app users were watching over 110 years’ worth of video every day. We don’t even want to know how many hours that is, if we’re honest! What a cracking statistic.

3) The Best Return on Investment

Want to know how popular video marketing actually is? Well, 51% of marketing professionals around the world named video as the marketing technique with the best ROI. Out of the huge number of marketing methods out there, to have over half all picking the same thing is pretty conclusive.

4) Keep it Quiet

We all knew that watching videos without the sound on wasn’t irregular. What else are you meant to do when you’re sitting on a train and have forgotten headphones? You don’t want to be that person playing your videos out loud (please don’t be that person). But, it turns out that as much as 85% percent of video viewed on Facebook is watched with the sound off. That just emphasises the importance of clever production, because your audience are more likely to watch your videos with the sound off than with it on!

5) Combine your Techniques

Content and video marketing are two of the best known and most used tools by brands to get themselves out there. But what happens when you combine the two? Well, that’s when things really start kicking off! If you incorporate a video into a blog post, merging written and video content, that blog is going to attract triple the number of inbound links as a post without video. You can see it’s worth doing!

If you’re starting to realise that video marketing is an essential strategy for your business, get in touch with us here at The Living Room. We’re a skilled bunch of professionals who spend each and every day producing high-quality, targeted video content for brands just like yours!
